Natal is the northeast corner of Brazil and is consists of 400 km of virgin beaches, surrounded by palm trees and sand dunes. Natal is known as the “Pearl of Nature” with 300 days of sun per year, hence it’s name as the City of Sun.

The area has an average annual temperature of 26 degrees centigrade, ranging from an average of 23 degrees during the “winter” and 34 degrees in the summer.

Natal is also considered to be the main entry point into South America as it is the point closest to Europe and Africa. It is renowned as a modern and vibrant city full of colour and life, where it is possible to find relaxation and adventure. The weather gives you 12 months of summer, with magnificent beaches, lakes and stunning scenery.

The most important feature of the area is its delicious gastronomic variety, its fabulous arts and its distinctive culture.

Natal, City of Sun, is also famous for the buggies which allow you to explore the stunning surroundings and reach areas otherwise inaccessible.

Natal has a population of 800.000 people and receives in excess of 3 million visitors per year, from other Brazilians, to Spanish, English and Norwegians.

With its 1172 hectares was considered in 1993 by UNESCO as the “Home of the Human Environment” and surveys by NASA have shown Natal to have the cleanest air in South America as a result of the trees and vegetation.

Natal as a part of the “Rio Grande” region. To the south with its fantastic beaches, you will find the traditional village of Pipa, which is similar in culture to Menorca.

To the north, where you will find both fresh water and salt lakes, miles of unspoilt beaches and dunes, sprinkled with small local fishing villages that supply the local cuisine. All of this is just a few kilometres from the new airport, which is already under construction and will be the largest airport in Latin America and the 4th largest in the world with capacity for 5 million passengers per year. The airport is due to open in 2010.

The area to the north is earmarked for development over the next five years and is already being targeted by investors large and small because of its accessibility from the airport and proximity to the beach. Everybody is looking for their piece of paradise and in Natal many people have found it already.

 

Brazilian Life and people

For a long time now, the country’s natural beauty and Carnival have made it internationally famous, bringing thousands of tourists to its shores all year ‘round. However, there is another attraction here, which one only discovers upon arrival: the Brazilian people. The Brazilian way of life is even more surprising and more enchanting than any of the scenery.

However, there is a very special attraction, which you only discover when you come here: the Brazilian people. Much beyond the breathtaking scenery, the way these people live surprises everyone by its simplicity, willingness, hope, hospitality and happiness

According to surveys, when foreign tourists are questioned about Brazil, they point out happiness as being the distinctive feature of THE people. A happiness, which can be perceived in every moment they remain in the country – whether in our music, the warmth of our beaches in the Northeast, the lively Rio de Janeiro nightlife or the exuberant Amazon.

Resorts and hotels at the seacoast and inns compose a lot of accommodation options on the city. The city has restaurants that serve regional dishes, from fishings to specialties. There is a great number of receptive tourism agencies, besides car rental agencies.
